So you’ve auto-discovered all of your school’s IT assets with NetSupport DNA and it’s compiled a comprehensive database of your assets – great!

You will also have some high-value non-networked devices that need to be recorded and logged alongside all the other tech devices in your asset portfolio. It’s really quick and easy to do. Here’s an example:

Let’s say your school has some really, really good speakers on site that are used for drama productions and music. These aren’t networked devices, but they do need to be recorded against the PC that runs the software applications the drama department uses for its backstage lighting and sound engineering.
Technicians can manually enter the details into the hardware inventory of NetSupport DNA and link them to the drama department’s PC, like this:

  1. Select the By PC tab and in the Tree view choose the drama department’s PC.
  2. Click Devices to create a new device. Once created, the device will be displayed in the Attach drop-down list. Select the required speakers from the list to associate them with the PC.
  3. Enter the details of the speakers (e.g. make and model) that will be listed on the Hardware Inventory.
  4. Click Apply.
  5. The speakers are now “tied” to this PC for the purposes of your asset log.

You can also add peripherals to groups, if you wish.
Adding devices like this only takes two ticks and is a perfect way to keep track of all of your school’s non-networked tech assets.
