It’s nearly here! It’s always great to have break from work or school but, at this time of year, when there are so many things to think about, it’s sometimes easy to forget to do something before you leave…

Just to give you a helping hand, we thought that it would be a good time to remind you that you can set NetSupport DNA to exclude holiday periods from your normal power on schedule. It’s a great way to save you from coming back to work and getting that sinking feeling when you realise that loads of PCs have been powered on and racking up the bills.[[READ_MORE]]

Simply go to the Energy Monitoring settings panel and click the Holidays button on the right. Click Set to add the dates that span your holiday break, click Save – and that’s enough to ensure school PCs won’t be powered on while you’re away.

The winter break is also a good time for school technicians to carry out maintenance tasks that are just easier to do when staff and students are away. This can include tasks such as deploying out new software via NetSupport DNA’s software distribution module – or even using the scheduling feature to send packages out on a specific date and time (usually out of core school hours when network traffic is low).

It’s also a good opportunity to review all software and hardware inventories so that the IT team has the information on hand and is ready to plan for 2017 expenditure.

All done? Now, relax and enjoy your time off!
