A report from MPs overseeing public spending in England highlights that the school funding shortages in England are threatening education standards.

Chair of the Committee, Meg Hillier explains “the cuts are dangerous if they are implemented without regard to real-world consequences”.

The report claims the Department of Education is “deaf to the experiences of head teachers” as it’s claimed many head teachers have already been complaining of cuts to staff and services. The MPs say that the Department for Education has failed to recognise the cost pressures on schools and has “buried its head in the sand” over the extent of its financial problems.

Ms Hillier adds “Pupils’ futures are at risk if the Department for Education fails to act on the warnings in the report”.
