Organised by Beat, Eating Disorder Awareness Week (26th February – 4th March 2018) aims to raise awareness of how serious these types of mental illnesses are and how early intervention and support, from both medical professionals and family and friends, can be vital to recovery.

This year, the main question being asked during #EDAW is ‘Why Wait?’ in order to encourage people to seek help and treatment sooner rather than later. As well as campaigning to improve the services available, Eating Disorder Awareness Week aims to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of an eating disorder and encourage and empower people to take action now – no matter how long their symptoms have been present.

Technology can give schools a helping hand to identify and support students who are experiencing mental health issues – and IT asset management solution NetSupport DNA is perfectly positioned to do so. With its built-in safeguarding module offering features such as keyword monitoring, schools gain an insight into what students are typing, copying or searching for online, whilst tracking application use for context. Alerts can also be triggered for terms deemed by the school as being of high severity, meaning staff can take action swiftly.
