Today (Saturday 5th October) is World Teachers’ Day! It commemorates the signing of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO recommendation – concerning the status of teachers. It sets benchmarks for rights and responsibilities, as well as the standard for their preparation and further education.

For 2019, the theme is “Young Teachers: The future of the profession”. The day will see celebrations of teachers and their achievements, centring around an idea of ‘acknowledging, evaluating and enhancing the instructors of the world’.
