October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month here in the US, an event founded by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Centre in 2006. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the issue, increase knowledge of preventative methods, and to push towards a society where bullying is eradicated. Activities across the nation include various social media campaigns, inspiring everyone to unite for kindness and acceptance, in addition to promoting both safe and supportive structures in education.
Helping to combat issues surrounding bullying in schools is NetSupport DNA’s dedicated online safety module. Its keyword monitoring feature provides an insight into what students are typing and searching for online and produces a word cloud of trending topics to help teachers put incidents into a broader context.
Further to these, NetSupport DNA allows students to ‘Report a concern’ from the school’s devices or website, or access a self-service list of external resources for support.
