With today’s students spending more time online for learning and socializing than ever before, protecting students online and ensuring their safety and wellbeing is crucial. The CDC reported that bullying and cyberbullying are such common occurrences that about 20% of high school students have experienced them.

Many states have legislation in place that support bullying and cyberbullying prevention. California’s state legislation aims to bring attention to bullying and cyberbullying to create a safer learning environment for all students, regardless of who they are.

California has “Seth’s Law” (California Assembly Bill AB9), which helps strengthen its anti-bullying laws to include bullying ‘based on one’s actual or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity/gender expression, as well as race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability, and religion’.
