Suicide Prevention Month 2026
September is Suicide Prevention Month – a dedicated time to raise awareness, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and ensure everyone knows where to turn when in need.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Suicide Prevention Month is a time to spread hope, spark meaningful action and ensure individuals, friends and families have access to the tools, resources and support they need to talk openly about suicide prevention, recognize warning signs and seek help.
This year’s message, “Start a Conversation. Be the Difference.”, is a powerful reminder that one honest conversation can be a turning point. Asking someone how they are really doing – and taking the time to listen – can help people feel less alone and more able to reach out for support.
As part of Suicide Prevention Month, NetSupport encourages everyone to learn the warning signs, share trusted resources and help create safer, more supportive conversations around mental health.
If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988, or chat at 988lifeline.org, to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
